Sookie has been caught up in all the extravagant wedding plans that Emily has been proposing. Jackson is worried and asks Lorelai to talk to her. Lorelai compares Sookie to Patricia Hearst.

Patricia Hearst was a California heiress who was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) in 1974. A few months later, Hearst announced she had joined the SLA and taken on the pseudonym “Tania.” On April 15, 1974, she helped rob a Hibernia Bank branch in San Francisco. She was arrested in 1975 and the main argument of her defense was that she was brainwashed by her kidnappers.
