Some of the people I work

Some of the people I work with also have messed up schedules, and I wonder if that throws mine off. For one project, I’m working with a virtual team of people across the country. And so one guy in California, if I sleep a normal schedule, I might be able to wake up and catch him before he goes to bed. That means he’s turning in at like 5 AM, his time. That’s probably because he has other projects, too, and is putting in lots of hours on them sometimes.

The last time my sleep got turned around, the only thing I could do was to keep going to bed later and later until I was sleeping a normal schedule again. That lasted a month or two. Ugh.

This happened to me too when

This happened to me too when I started working from home. I think it has to do with the fact that work never really goes away it’s always just staring at me. Plus it’s easier to edit websites when the rest of the country is sleepy & therefore not trying to visit my site. I’ve noticed that a lot of webmasters are insomniacs, but I don’t know which causes which. In my case, it evened out, & I was finally able to seperate myself from work. However, when something goes wrong, my sleep schedule gets messed up again. People know by now to just hang in there until I get back to normal. Wish I had a better solution

Being Self-employed Has Its Disadvantages

Since I’ve been self-employed, my sleep schedule has gone everywhere. I’ve had a difficult time sticking to a regular sleep schedule. And I think it may be affecting my mood, too. I just get busy, and then I work late, later and later. And before I know it, I’m working nights and sleeping until 1 in the afternoon. And since I’m the boss, no one’s going to fire me for it.

I don’t know if there’s an answer, except to manage my time better. It’s funny, too, because I thought I was good at this. But I guess I have more to learn.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? If you have to do late nights, how do you deal with the emotional effects of irregular sleep?

Update: If you’re interested in self-employment, you might get a blast out of my personal/professional blog: JTimothyKing.com/blog.
