Yeah, Andrew isn’t as colorful a character as the other Stars Hollow citizens. But he is there. Uh… [sound of web pages flipping] IMDb is a great place to research stuff like this. Mike Gandolfi appeared in 20 episodes as Andrew. And here they are:

That’s more episodes than Morey, the Troubadour, Lulu, Colin and Finn… Even more than Jason Stiles or Max Medina. I guess in a way, Andrew is the Shemp of Gilmore Girls.

The Richard thing. I see no reason to disbelieve Richard. I mean, yeah, it was awful convenient. And if Richard did want to help out Lorelai, he knew she would never accept a gift like that. But such things do happen. Don’t bet your future on an investment paying off like that, but do take it when it happens.

As an example, I know a guy who struck it rich during the dot-com boom. He was part-owner in a dot-com startup. The startup got bought out. Now he’s independently wealthy. It’s a cool story when it happens. But would I bet my future on something like that happening? Hell, no! I’d have a backup plan, and a backup plan after that.

…I’ve been watching for three-plus seasons, and never seen him. He seems superfluous.

And still haven’t heard from anyone about Richard giving Lorelai a check for $75,000.

But Andrew isn't unknown.

But Andrew isn’t unknown. He’s been a Stars Hollow fixture since season 1. And the first time we saw him as the owner-operator of the book store was “Christopher Returns,” season 1, episode 15.

Richard: Anyone else think Richard made up the story about some property he purchased when Lorelai was born finally yielding returns, as he hands her a check for $75,000? It rang hollow to me.

Kirk: Just saw the episode where Luke buys a book and audio tape set about finding The One. Shouldn’t Kirk have been the cashier at the bookstore? Just like he pops up in every other retail outlet in town? How could the writers have missed this opportunity, and brought in some unknown to play a boring, straight part?
