Romantic Moments

I agree that both “The man that got away”, and the song lorelai and Luke dance to are two of the most romantic moments from Gilmore girls. I just watched the episode with “The man that got away” the other day, and instantly had to download it (not to mention im a big Judy Garland fan as well.)

But isn't that the fun of it?

Hi, Laur. If it seems like they just can’t reconcile, doesn’t that make it all the more powerful when they do?

When Steven Spielberg directed Jaws, the story goes, when he got to the end of the movie, where the shark dies— Peter Benchley had written the original novel and the screenplay. And Spielberg’s ending was different than the original ending. Benchley disagreed with Spielberg’s ending, because he said it was unbelievable. He said no one would believe that an air tank would explode like that or that it would explode a shark like that. Because none of that could possibly happen in real life. And as the Mythbusters proved, Benchley was right. The ending to Jaws could never happen in real life.

But Steven Spielberg said, he’s had the audience on the edge of their seats for 2 hours, and he’s going to give them a satisfying ending! And you know what? Spielberg was right. In theaters, when the shark exploded, audiences cheered. They not only believed the impossible; they exulted in it!

As you say, whether it’s believable or not is another story.

It has nothing to do with what would happen in real life. It has to do with the drama. It has to do with identifying with a hero who, being in an impossible situation, somehow overcomes, triumphant. It’s the plausible impossible. And that’s what I want to see of Luke and Lorelai.

Lorelai & Luke - Can They Make It

This is quite a compelling argument. And not totally crazy for most Gilmore fans. They are cut from the cloth that believes true love can conquer all. Before I make any enemies with that statement, know that I too am a believer in love. But so much has happened between these two that it’s beginning to seem beyond true love. These are fundamental characteristics that ruined them in the first place. Both are learning and have had some eye-opening experiences that may allow them to move past their issues. Never say never, that’s my motto. There is every chance they can be back together and happy by the end of this season if the writers want it that way. Whether it’s believable or not may be another story.

Chris & Love

Hi, Katy. Yeah, Christopher was Christopher for the last time, I think.

RADPrint, I’m sorry to hear you’re jealous of Luke & Lorelai. I actually don’t think it’s so much being destined to be together as it is just accepting togetherness. Up until recently, Luke and Lorelai have been rather clumsy at it. But I’ve noticed they’ve each gotten much better at it over the past year or so. In any case, I’m so glad this song makes you believe in love, because love is worth believing in.

BTW, feel free to post this video on your blog. Someone asked me if that would be okay, and of course, it’s absolutely okay! In fact, I’m honored. To do so, copy the following code into your blog:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WQxQSdNkFEw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WQxQSdNkFEw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

You can also get this code from the YouTube page for the video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WQxQSdNkFEw If you use YouTube, why not go there and give it 5 stars?

Thanks for the hard work!

Luke & Lorelai - I've Always Loved You

Thanks, Raine and ali.

I’ve got, like, a page of notes on Luke & Lorelai from when I recently watched season 6 and 7. I’ll try to get to them soon. And definitely before the next episode airs in April. Of course, I might be all wrong, because I also really want Lorelai and Luke to get together and live happily ever after.

And I don’t know what the writers and producers of the show will do. They can take the story in a different direction. (And if the rumours are to be believed…) I guess that’s another reason I’d love a season 8. It would give the writers another year to get L&L together.

But the MOST romantic moment...

Ooh! Yes, April, that is definitely in competition for the most romantic moment. The song they were waltzing to is “Reflecting Light” by Sam Phillips.

But my favorite romantic moment of that episode was when Luke asks Lorelai out at the end, and Lorelai says yes, and then she turns around with an expression on her face that screams, “Did he just ask me out on a date?!”

Part of my problem is that there are so many great moments, I have trouble choosing my favorite. However, my favorite romantic Gilmore Girls moment is probably still the “Thousand Yellow Daisies” at the end of the first season.

when luke and lorelai danced together at liz and t.j.’s wedding, the song that luke and lorelai danced to is in strict competition for the most romantic moment…anyone agree?
