In the 1951 film, Marlon Brando as Stanley Kowalski stands on the street shouting his wife’s name after he’s booted out of the house by Stella (Kim Hunter) over a fight about her sister, Blanche DuBois (Vivien Leigh). Stella relents, going to her brutish husband.
Lorelai names the baby chick, that Rory must take care of for her mid-term, after Kim Hunter’s character in the film. When Lorelai comes home to find that the chick has escaped from her cage she screams, “STELLA!”
