This isn’t actually something that Lorelai said. It’s something she did. In a dream. When she dreamed that she and Luke were married, and that she was pregnant with twins. In the dream, before she wakes up, her Hello Kitty Alarm Clock-Radio hits 7:00 A.M., and it starts buzzing. So she half-asleep whacks poor little Hello Kitty on the noggin to get her to shut up. Then another alarm clock goes off, which Lorelai also silences. Then a dozen other alarm clocks go off in her room.
She goes downstairs, where Luke is making breakfast, and she tells him, “Okay, see, last night, when I said to you, ’Tomorrow, no matter what, make sure I get up at seven,’ what I actually meant was, ’Tomorrow, no matter what, make sure I have the option of getting up at seven, in case when seven comes, I actually want to get up,’ which, as it happened, I didn’t. Therefore, you’re currently responsible for the great alarm clock slaughter of 2002.”
