LUKE: I can’t go Tuesday.
LORELAI: Why not?
LUKE: I have to go out of town.
LORELAI: Why?
LUKE: Business.
LORELAI: Business? Now you’re Willy Loman?
Lorelai is trying to prod Luke into giving her a reason why he can’t join her during his Dark Day. Luke simply says, “Business.”
So Lorelai presses further, “Business? Now you’re Willy Loman?”
Willy Loman is the main character in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.
She was questioning the statement that Luke had business on the road, as if he were a traveling salesman.
