On Rory’s first day at Chilton, Lorelai oversleeps and doesn’t have time to pick up her laundry at the cleaners. So Rory gets to meet her new headmaster with her mother wearing a pink patterned T-shirt, cut-off jeans, and cowboy boots. Lorelai is terrified to discover Emily there waiting for them. And so begins the Lorelai’s first day at Chilton.
Rory quickly learns that education at Chilton is not just about learning. The learning is there; it’s overwhelming. On top of that, Chilton has its own cliques and torments. Paris and Tristan independently set out to make Rory’s Chilton career as horrible as they can.
Lorelai gets asked out by Ian, a father of one of Rory’s new schoolmates. But she declines, because she doesn’t want to date a Chilton dad.
