Jack Kerouac was an author of the 1940’s and 1950’s who many people now consider one of the most important authors of that time. He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, but traveled America and the world. His best-known work is On the Road, a novel based his road trips across America. This novel defined the Beat Generation, and Jack Kerouac’s work set off the 1960’s counter-culture.
