Lane wants to go on a date with Dean’s friend Todd. Rory sets it up, a movie. But they have to hide it from Mrs. Kim, which means they must hide what they’re doing from Lorelai. They tell Mrs. Kim they’re over at Lorelai’s. They hide from Lorelai that Mrs. Kim would not approve of the outing. Unfortunately, Todd turns out to be a really bad date. Until Mrs. Kim, panicking because she doesn’t know where Lane is, finds Lorelai.
Sookie finally schedules a date with Jackson. But Jackson’s cousin Roon is in town, so she suggests a double-date: Her and Jackson, Lorelai and Roon. Lorelai hates the idea but agrees, for Sookie’s sake. But Roon turns out to be a crummy date. And so do Jackson and Sookie. They struggle to get the evening off the ground.
