Lorelai tells Rory that she and Chris have split up. But she doesn’t tell her parents. She just makes an excuse for Christopher at Friday night dinner. Lorelai has also not told anyone else, but Babette gets a clue when she sees a moving van pull up.
Meanwbile, Emily has been limiting Richard to a restricted diet after his heart surgery, including virgin cocktails and a mountain of fish. And Richard is already tired of it. In disgust, he tears into his new personal chef, who then quits. So Lorelai gets Sookie to cook up some good food that he’s allowed to eat.
While Lorelai is helping Emily hold things together, they break for a drink. Lorelai tells her mother that she and Chris have split up. As they drink, Emily begins to admire her daughter for being able to be so independent. But by the time the morning hangover is upon them, Emily has gotten over it.
Liz and TJ stop by the diner with their new baby, to keep Luke company for a few days. As it turns out, they also have a moth infestation in their own place. Luke lets it slip that he went to the hospital when Richard was in the hospital. And Liz and TJ immediately get the impression that he still has feelings for her. And Luke gets that look on his face, too.
Mitchum takes Logan and Rory out for Logan’s 25’th birthday. And he immediately complements Rory on her journalistic savoir faire. It turns out, he wants something. He wants Rory to use her influence to manipulate Logan’s future. That night, Logan finds out that the company he just bought is being sued by someone with an underground patent.
