Mia’s getting married! In North Carolina. Lorelai had planned to drive there with Chris. Now that there is no Christopher, she asks Rory. But Rory wants to stay to finish her schoolwork and to support Logan.
However, Mitchum yells at Logan for not being accountable for the Internet start-up he invested in. And Rory agrees with him. So Logan and Rory have a big fight, and Rory decides to go to Mia’s wedding with Lorelai.
Richard is getting on Emily’s nerves after his open-heart surgery. Emily gets word of the trip to North Carolina. So she invites herself on the trip. And succeeds at being an ultimate pain to Lorelai.
And when Mia learns that Emily is with the younger Gilmores, she insists they invite Emily to the wedding. Emily feels it would be impolite to refuse. So even though she resents Mia for being Lorelai’s second mother, she comes to the wedding.
At the wedding, Logan shows up. He flew down. At first, Rory refuses to talk to him. But when she does, he apologizes to her and tells her that he has resigned from the Huntzberger Group.
Mia also tells Lorelai how Emily came to the Independence Inn five years ago. And impresses on Lorelai how deeply it hurt Emily when Lorelai left at the age of 17.
Meanwhile, Zack and Lane ask Luke to be godfather to their twins. And Zack reveals how nervous he is about becoming a father. He starts trying to rely on Luke for guidance. But Luke sets him at ease and convinces him that he’ll figure it out, just as Luke did. Then Lane’s water breaks.
