The show followed the comic adventures of seven castaways, as they attempted to escape from an uninhabited island where they were shipwrecked and stranded. The castaways were the Skipper Jonas Grumby (Alan Hale, Jr.), Gilligan (Bob Denver), the Professor Roy Hinkley (Russel Johnson), the Millionaire Thurston J. Howell III (Jim Backus), his wife Eunice Wentworth Howell (Natalie Schafer), the Movie Star Ginger Grant (Tina Louise), and girl-next-door Mary Ann Summers (Dawn Wells).
