Forum Rules and FAQs

The Gilmore-ism Forums are dedicated to fans of the TV show Gilmore Girls.

The Single Most Important Rule

… is to be nice. That generally means that it’s okay to disagree with someone else, but don’t let it get personal. Don’t make personal attacks, and don’t take disagreement personally. Don’t insult others. Don’t call people names. Like Stars Hollow, we’re a small, tight-knit community. If it helps, pretend you’re talking to Ranting Luke.

Other Rules

  • If you’re thinking of starting a new topic, see if there’s a thread on that topic already. However, it’s not the end of the world if you start a topic that already exists or that had existed in the past. Some threads may be too old to bother reviving. So use your own judgment.
  • More importantly, use descriptive subject lines.
  • You are solely responsible for everything you post to the Gilmore-ism Forums. We retain the right to delete any messages or threads we deem inappropriate.
  • While we do not censor, please be sensitive to the sensibilities of others. Try to stay away from curses and strong language. Be diplomatic.

How to Use BBCode

When you go to post a forum topic or reply to a forum thread, you can use certain HTML tags. You would use these to add things like italics and bold-face type. However, if you want to use BBCode instead of HTML, you can. Here’s how. Under the text area where you type your message, there’s a link called “Input format.” If you click on it, you’ll see that you can choose to use BBCode instead of HTML. You’ll have to do this for every message you post. Most messages, however, don’t have any special formatting. So it doesn’t usually matter whether you use HTML or BBCode mode.
