(Gilmore Girls fan site)In the episode “Kiss and Tell.”
LORELAI: One of us has to do laundry tonight.
RORY: Why?
LORELAI: Because I haven’t had any clean underwear for three days.
RORY: So right now under your skirt you’re wearing…?
LORELAI: Not underwear.
RORY: Mom!
LORELAI: It’s kinda nice, actually — breezy.
RORY: My role model, ladies and gentlemen…
LORELAI: Excuse me, can we get some coffee please?
RORY: And a muffin?
LORELAI: Warmed?
(LUKE and TAYLOR are arguing.)
LUKE: I don’t have to do anything but serve food.
LORELAI: And coffee!
RORY: And muffins!
LUKE: Taylor, I’m tired of having this conversation with you every year.
LORELAI: Yoo-hoo!
(Luke and Taylor continue arguing.)
LORELAI (waving money): Whoo!
LUKE: Sorry, I guess my pod’s defective.
RORY: Hey! My mom’s not wearing any underwear!
LORELAI: Oh!
RORY: Well you aren’t.
(Luke and Taylor continue arguing.)
LORELAI: Still they don’t notice. I can’t take it anymore.
Lorelai and Rory want breakfast. Unfortunately, Luke is in a rant with Taylor, who wants Luke to color up his diner for the Autumn Festival. They try progressively more intrusive methods to grab Luke’s attention. Finally in desperation, Rory spits out an absurdly private, yet true, “Hey! My mom’s not wearing any underwear!” (The girls were really behind on doing the laundry.)
But to the Gilmores’ surprise and Lorelai’s offense, Luke still doesn’t pay the slightest attention and continues to bicker with Taylor. When they realize that there’s no stopping Taylor and Luke, Lorelai and Rory service themselves and pour their own coffee and grab their own muffins.
On their way out:
LUKE: No tip?
LORELAI: Oh, yeah, here’s a tip: Serve your customers!
LUKE: Here’s another: Don’t sit on any cold benches.
