The Gilmore Girls cast and crew this week were filming Rory’s graduation from Yale. They were shooting at the USC campus, and several people blogged reports of the second day. I caught 3 particularly interesting ones, including a timelapse video.

Firstly, jzyo describes the scene during the second day of shooting:

The graduation scene included many extras and took place in front of Bovard. Like many other shows, the USC campus is the perfect place for Hollywood to film. With its classic ivy-league look and proximity to production headquarters the campus is regularly “transformed” into Harvard, Brown, and other prestigious universities.

Then, gnawthepaw (a.k.a. Johnson Wang) posted on Flikr a photo of one of the crew from the set. Johnson takes photos of strangers (with their permission, I assume). This day, he picked an interesting looking guy from the GG set at USC in Founders Park. The guy apparently introduced himself as “Danny.” I don’t know him, but he looks like the right age and experience to be Danny Falkengren, one of the grips who’s worked on Gilmore Girls. I don’t really know, though, and have not even tried to find out. What I do know is that the numerous crew, all with specialized skills, rarely see even a taste of the limelight. But my gratitude goes out to them. Thanks, guys.

Lastly, Eugene Tamura on his blog wrote that he wanted to take a picture, “but the big security thugs made menacing faces at me and spoke into their secret service style lapel mics so I made a quick escape back to the office.” So no close shots. But he did post a timelapse video of the set, taken from a public web cam at USC. Okay, actually, that’s way cooler than anything he could’ve reasonably gotten from his camera.
