Quietly revealed at the MTV upfronts in April, Amy Sherman-Palladino is working on Worst Day of My Life, a show inspired by fans who have written to her about their low points.
This is apparently the project she had been referring to in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last April, when she commented, “We’re talking to MTV about doing a show with [producer] RJ Cutler — not a reality show, something else, a great idea. We’re meeting with MTV this week to see about that, in fact.”
In fact, this show is one in a list of shows that are part of MTV’s new web strategy. And it sounds like a project Logan Huntzberger would sign onto.
The idea is to create a more engaging viewer experience by integrating on-line interaction with cable TV. Consider some other shows from the line-up:
MTV says they are committed to this new strategy. Of course, that’s easy to say when you’re just starting out, before the reality hits you that you’re trying to do something that has never quite been tried before. In other words, the strategy has a great potential. But whether it will reach its full potential depends on how committed MTV actually is.
