Tim King is the founder of Gilmore-ism.com and a Gilmore Girls fan since season 3. A writer and story aficionado, he’s watched some seasons of Gilmore Girls over a dozen times. His own storytelling style has been heavily influenced by Amy Sherman-Palladino’s, as you can tell from his various writing projects. Tim’s favorite Gilmore is Lorelai.
Somehow in my post about what Gilmore Girls stars are doing now, I missed mentioning Melissa McCarthy’s upcoming film The Nines, made up of three short stories, each featuring the same actors in different, sometimes overlapping roles.
“The Prisoner” is the story of a troubled TV star (Ryan Reynolds), under house arrest. His chipper publicist (Melissa McCarthy) and disillusioned next-door neighbor (Hope Davis) are his only links to the outside world. Mysterious events lead him to question whether the women are lying to him about his incarceration.
“Reality Television” is an episode similar to Project Greenlight, but about creating a TV drama. The pilot has been shot, and now Gavin Taylor (Ryan Reynolds) faces post-production along with his best friend (Melissa McCarthy) and network exec Susan Howard (Hope Davis).
In “Knowing,” a videogame designer (Ryan Reynolds) and his wife (Melissa McCarthy) encounter car trouble deep in the woods. Their daughter (Elle Fanning) uncovers information which leads to a difficult and irrevocable choice.
