New Year’s is about change. It’s about looking back on the past year and making a better life in the new one. Gilmore Girls tells us much about entering the new year, but you have to read between the lines. Here are just some of the things Gilmore Girls teaches us about New Year’s resolutions: Click to continue »
Just a quick link to a post on my writing blog, about my take on the Writers Guild of America strike, and how valuable writers are to a TV show.
Even though the biggest part of this post is about Gilmore Girls, I almost didn’t link to it here. Because I make some pretty disparaging comments regarding fans in general, and Gilmore Girls fans in particular, of which I am one.
Please remember that I am a writer, and that Amy Sherman-Palladino (in spirit) taught me everything I know. (Almost everything, anyhow.) I am fiercely dedicated to her work, and sometimes react like a creative personality when even GG fans disparage her… which some GG fans have done.

In honor of Father’s Day, Entertainment Weekly ran a photo tribute to TV’s worst dads. And Rory’s own Gilmore Girls father is #10 on the list: Click to continue »
I’ve started a new series of pages on Gilmore-ism.com: “Watching Gilmore Girls,” thoughts of a long-time Gilmore Girls fan, watching the Gilmore Girls DVDs again from the beginning. And I’ve begun with Gilmore Girls Season 1, Disc 1.
Each one of these pages begins a discussion thread. Please, do leave your thoughts, reminiscences, stories about watching Gilmore Girls! Because I and other fans love to read about them.

P.S. Note that the whole collection is available in the left-hand side-bar of the site, under “Guides.” It’s the “Watching Gilmore Girls” link. Right now, only this one page exists. But as I add more, I’ll add them there, and I’ll also post in the blog.
Here’s a cool tribute to Gilmore Girls at Brilliant But Cancelled.
We all read how the end was coming — that it was time. How the show was not itself this past season without Amy Sherman-Palladino leading the helm. We could go on and on about how great “The Gilmore Girls” really was but we don’t want to bore you. Instead we’ve written goodbyes to some of our favorite characters below. Click to continue »
Mark O’Meara has a theory about Gilmore Girls:
For a long time I regarded it as a failing of Gilmore Girls that all of the secondary relationships and characters in the show seem simplistic. Now I am more of the opinion that the whole point of all those people with all their relationships is to be the poor cousin of Rory and Lorelai and their relationship. Their relationship is not just the centrepiece; it is the whole reason, and everything else is really just there to highlight how special this idealised mother-daughter relationship is.
I think. Click to continue »
