Lauren Graham Speaks About Gilmore Girls Movie

Tue, 2007-06-12 07:07
By TimK

I didn’t announce it on this blog, because I’m not ready to hold my breath yet. In the wake of Gilmore Girls being cancelled, Amy Sherman-Palladino (who originally created the show) said that she hopes to do a 2-hour TV movie with her version of the GG ending… “in a year or two.”

The thing is, a lot can happen in a year or two. Many fans were ecstatic about this movie. I’ll jump up from my seat in excitement as soon as they announce the production schedule… in a year or two.

Which leads me to the latest news. You may know Kristin, of the column “Watch with Kristin,” on E! Online. For example, she was the one who orchestrated the “Save One Show” campaign, which Gilmore Girls won, with Veronica Mars. But I’m not going to talk about that, because I don’t want to stir up bad blood.

Yesterday, Kristin posted Lauren Graham’s response to the TV-movie question. And she pretty much echoed my thoughts on the matter: Click to continue »

A Gilmore Girl Is Back In Town... NOT!

After the Columbia Daily Spectator posted an article about Gilmore Girls rumored eighth season return, which includes comments from David Rosenthal and David Grae, one of the writers—

After this article, Diana, the TV Dork from Media Obsessed, tore into the Davids. Diana derides the two Davids for blaming the Palladinos for their own bad writing early this season. And she’s right.

Lorelai: One of TV's 15 Hottest Moms

By TimK

TV Squad has named Lorelai Gilmore one of TV’s 15 all-time hottest moms. And I have to say, I like the line-up they came up with. Lorelai shares this distinction with the likes of Lindsay Bluth Funke (Arrested Development), Elaine Nardo (Taxi), and Laura Petrie (The Dick Van Dyke Show).

"Keep Gilmore Alive" Petition

Sat, 2007-04-14 05:33
By TimK

Catherine Trotter has posted on PetitionOnline.com a petition to Alexis Bledel to keep Gilmore Girls alive.

I for one dislike the nasty comments some fans—not Catherine!—have made about Alexis not signing up to do an eighth season. I don’t know about you, but I would hate it if thousands of people whom I’ve never actually met suddenly started saying they knew better that I what I should do with my life and my career. And then they pull an Emily Gilmore and tighten the thumbscrews if I think otherwise. Look, this is a career decision for Alexis, and there are no doubt many personal reasons why she would decide one way or another.

I’m posting this link to this petition with the understanding that, whatever Alexis decides, we respect her decision. Because after all, it is her life and her decision.

(Okay. Rant over now.)

Happy Birthday, Lauren!

March 16 was Lauren Graham’s birthday! She’s now officially “of a certain age” and “that’s not polite.” But she’s still IMO the most beautiful woman on TV.

Melissa McCarthy Joins ABC Pilot

Zap2It reports that Melissa McCarthy has joined the cast of Sam I Am, an upcoming comedy series on ABC. She is the latest in a number of Gilmore Girls cast members who have been preparing for GG being cancelled.

Meanwhile, according to Michael Ausiello, Matt Czuchry’s pilot has been put on hold.

… And the Girls May Indeed Be Cancelled

Still no concrete news on whether there will be an eighth season. Lots of speculation, but no news. However, Michael Ausiello reports that the prospect is bleaker than ever, “Talks to bring the show back for an eighth season have stalled, and according to several sources, there’s little hope for a turnaround.”

Still, if this is the last season, at least Rory will get to meet Christiane Amanpour before it’s over. Rory’s hero will appear in the last episode this season.
